While it is unpleasant to think about your own mortality, planning for the inevitable can give you and your loved ones peace of mind going forward. Decisions about dividing your property, providing for your spouse, appointing a guardian for your children, and settling other affairs must be made. If you do not make these decisions now by creating a will, the probate court will make them for your loved ones later, and the decisions the court makes may not be best for your family.
